Altstore PAL has made its debut in Europe as the latest third-party iPhone app store, offering users an alternative to Apple’s official App Store. This new platform, created by developer Riley Testut, provides access to apps that are not available through the traditional channels.
One of the key features of Altstore PAL is the absence of Apple’s content restrictions. This means users can download apps that are typically prohibited on the App Store, such as torrent clients. Additionally, developers can distribute apps through Altstore PAL using Patreon, allowing them to set a minimum pledge amount that gives users access to their creations.
In order to access Altstore PAL, users in the European Union must update their iPhones to iOS 17.4 and pay an annual subscription fee of EUR 1.50. This fee covers Apple’s mandatory Core Technology Fee, which is required for the platform to operate. Users outside the EU, as well as those who prefer not to pay the subscription fee, have the option to sideload apps using the original Altstore app on a computer.
Developers will find Altstore PAL to be a cost-effective solution for distributing their apps. Unlike traditional app stores, Altstore PAL does not charge developers to host their creations, nor does it take a commission on Patreon donations. Once an app has been notarized by Apple, developers can upload the “alternative distribution packet” (ADP) to their servers for distribution.
Altstore PAL offers a fresh and innovative approach to app distribution on iOS devices. By providing a platform that is developer-friendly and free from content restrictions, Altstore PAL opens up new possibilities for both developers and users alike. With its unique features and affordable pricing model, Altstore PAL is poised to shake up the app marketplace and offer a new way for users to discover and enjoy a wide range of applications.
