He emphasized the importance of enhancing the mobile order and pay experience, as well as revamping how new drinks are created to prioritize premium offerings.

Schultz highlighted the need for Starbucks to adopt a more merchant-focused approach when addressing these challenges. He emphasized that the key to overcoming the current downturn lies within the stores themselves, rather than relying solely on data-driven solutions. By refocusing on the customer experience through the eyes of a merchant, Starbucks may be able to regain its footing in the market.

Following Starbucks’ disappointing quarterly report, the company’s full-year forecast was significantly lowered. This unexpected decline in same-store sales resulted in Starbucks missing Wall Street’s expectations for earnings and revenue. As a result, the company’s shares plummeted by 17%, leading to a sharp decrease in market value to $82.8 billion. Analysts have been scrambling to pinpoint the reasons behind the decline in U.S. traffic, with some speculating that social media backlash related to the Middle East conflict may have played a role.

Schultz, who played a pivotal role in transforming Starbucks into a global coffee powerhouse, stepped down from his position as CEO over a year ago.
