Channing Tatum recently took to Instagram to express his gratitude towards Ryan Reynolds for helping him save his dream of portraying the Marvel character Gambit. Tatum shared an emotional message where he mentioned feeling like he had lost the opportunity to play Gambit forever, but Reynolds fought for him and the character.
Initially, Tatum was supposed to star in a standalone Gambit film in 2014, but the project was put on hold in 2019 due to the acquisition of 21st Century Fox by Disney. Accompanying his message, Tatum shared two side-by-side photos of himself and Reynolds taken at Comic-Cons that were 10 years apart.
