Aimee Harris, a Florida woman who was set to voluntarily surrender to begin a jail term for stealing and selling the diary of President Joe Biden’s daughter Ashley Biden, was arrested in Georgia on multiple charges. The arrest came just one day before she was supposed to start serving her sentence. Harris had previously pleaded guilty to conspiring to steal Biden’s diary and selling it to a right-wing media group.
Harris was apprehended in McIntosh County, Georgia, after driving at 90 mph in a 70 mph speed zone. The arrest report also revealed that she faced charges such as driving with a suspended license, speeding, possession of an open container, possession of marijuana, and obstruction of a law enforcement officer. Despite her pretrial plans to go on a road trip to South Carolina, Harris found herself in state custody due to these offenses.
Following her arrest, prosecutors filed a request for Harris to be taken into U.S. Bureau of Prisons custody due to the nature of her recent charges. This move was approved by a federal judge in New York. Harris, who was initially sentenced to one month in jail and three months of home detention, now faces further legal consequences for her actions. Her accomplice, Robert Kurlander, is also awaiting sentencing related to the theft and sale of Biden’s personal items.
