Apple recently announced the launch of its newest flagship smartphones, the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max, at an event called ‘It’s Glowtime’. These devices are touted as the most advanced smartphones offered by the company and come with a range of impressive features.
One of the standout features of the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max is the powerful A18 Pro chip that powers them. This chip is also responsible for enabling new Apple Intelligence features integrated into the latest version of iOS, iOS 18. These smartphones also come with larger displays compared to their predecessors and boast an upgraded ultrawide angle camera for improved photography.
Pricing and Availability
The iPhone 16 Pro is priced starting at $999 for the base 128GB variant, while the iPhone 16 Pro Max starts at $1,199 for the 256GB option. Customers can choose from storage options of 512GB and 1TB, along with color choices including Desert Titanium, Natural Titanium, White Titanium, and Black Titanium. Preorders for these devices will begin on September 13, with sales starting on September 20 through Apple’s website and authorized retailers.

Both the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max run on iOS 18 out-of-the-box and are powered by Apple’s second-generation 3nm A18 Pro chip. This chip is said to enhance performance by 15 percent over the previous models, while also being 20 percent more power efficient. The phones will receive additional support for all Apple Intelligence features with the upcoming iOS 18.1 update.
The iPhone 16 Pro features a 6.3-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display, while the iPhone 16 Pro Max comes with a larger 6.9-inch display. Both screens offer a 120Hz refresh rate, up to 2,000nits peak brightness, and Apple’s enhanced Ceramic Shield protection. The camera setup on both devices consists of a 48-megapixel wide primary camera, an upgraded 48-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera, and a 12-megapixel telephoto camera with a periscope lens providing up to 5x optical zoom. Additionally, there’s a 12-megapixel TrueDepth front camera for selfies and video calls, with support for 4K 120fps recording.
Other Features
Apple has introduced a touch-sensitive Camera Control button on the iPhone 16 series, in addition to the existing Action button. The phones also retain the IP68 rating for dust and water resistance. Users can expect up to 1TB of storage on these devices, along with connectivity options such as 5G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth, NFC, GPS, and a USB 3.0 Type-C port. Battery details are not disclosed by Apple but are likely to be revealed through teardown videos. The phones can be charged at 27W using a compatible charger or at 15W using MagSafe or Qi2-compatible wireless charging adapters.
